Post WOTL Expansion, going to be a while
Just listend to the blizzard pod cast and me thinks we have plenty of time to get our peeps to 70 and enjoy end game stuff before it rolls out.

They still have to figure out alot of things in the expansion. They also said at the end that the blizzard worldwide invitational will be have WOTL playable and that isn't until the end of June. My guess is that it will be playable but still not finished and some stuff will not be accesible. They will probably get feedback and work that in for another few months.

Also with the new island in the next patch, a new 25 man raid will be avaliable. Seeing as you would only be able to do the raid once a week (because of being saved and stuff) they are going to let all the hardcore raiders plenty of time to run, complete and farm it. If you think about it that would probably take like 20+ runs of it meaning like 20+ weeks, and thats for people who are ready to take on the raid when it's released. Give a chance for people say who are only on Kara it would probably take them about 20 weeks to work through Kara, SSC, Hyjal, Temple before they get to Sunwell isle (no-one will bother farming any of those raids as SWI will be the new end raid).

So my estimation is that WOLK won't be out till the end of the year. Quite likly end of novemeber so that Blizz bag those xmas sales, but also quite likly to be mid Jan just like TBC was.

Its going to be July-August time at the earliest...

Same with SC2 AFAIK and can gather form blizz's info.
so yea...

As for enjoying end game content..
Currently Guilds are doing SSC and TK but not really Kara apart from farming.
Next it looks like guilds will just beat down kael and Vashj and go straight into BT/Hyjal.

So if you leave it too late it'll be difficult to find a progression guild.

WOTLK is probably already finished, and will be released a week or two before Warhammer Online, to try and stop the game completely taking away all of WoW's player-base.

Most raiding guilds have already done everything. The next patch lets casual players pick up tier-6 epics from a vendor, so they can skip BT completely, and start lvl 71 with the same level of gear as the rest of the players.

They did this in the last patch before BC was released, so I imagine this is definately the last content patch before Warhammer / Lich King.
